Spring Beach Youth Camp is operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church and is located on the beautiful east coast of Tasmania. Approximately one hour from Hobart, it is near some of the best beaches Tasmania has to offer. Spring Beach is a great place to relax, explore nature or be adventurous.

Our facility provides sleeping accommodation for 100 people.
The bunk rooms, which sleep either 5 or 8 people, are on the mezzanine floor while the showers and toilets are downstairs.

Staff can be comfortable in one of five rooms with their own ensuites. Cots for little ones are available on request.

Get warm and cosy by the open log fire in the main hall. Additionally, “The Pig” is an iron heater that provides an extra burst of warmth in the cooler months.
This area can also be used for games, meetings and your dining space. You can even stage your own talent show.

Escape from civilisation! Take the 25 minute ferry ride for a fascinating mix of history, landscape and wildlife, including a protected marine environment. Visit the remains of the 19th century Darlington convict settlement. Wander among the ruins of the mess room, miller’s cottage, barn, hop kiln, chapel prison cells and more. Perfect for a day trip with lots to do and see.

Spring Beach to East Shelley Beach
With views of Maria Island, this lovely cliff top walk is an excellent opportunity to see the native coastline vegetation, which is particularly attractive in spring. There is a short track off the main walk which takes you down to the disused quarry where the sandstone was obtained for the Melbourne GPO. The remains of the tramway which transported the stone before loading onto the ships can be found at the end of Shelley Beach. The walk is approximately 1.5 km one way. The disused quarry is also an ideal place for abseiling with qualified instructors.
West Shelly Beach to Raspin’s Beach
West Shelly Beach to Raspin’s Beach
This walk is approximately 5 km one way and comprises of East Shelly and West Shelly Beach, Millington’s Beach, the Prosser River Sandbar and around the foreshore, finishing at Raspin’s Beach.
Thumbs Picnic Area to Thumbs Summit
Thumbs Picnic Area to Thumbs Summit
The Thumbs picnic area is located 7 km from Orford along the Wielangta Forest Road. The lookout provides spectacular views of Spring Bay, Maria Island and the Mercury Passage. BBQ’s, a shelter and toilet facilities are available. A 2 hour loop walk (approximately 3 km return) over the three thumbs to the peak goes through the dry eucalyptus forest with an area of temperate rain forest caused by the micro climate.

On the north side of Orford bridge a stone entry takes you to a 40 minute walk along the Old Convict Road. Look out for the remains of the original convict road built between 1841 and 1855.
Triabunna Town Walk
Triabunna Town Walk
Collect a map from the Triabunna Visitor Information Centre and explore the local attractions. Visit the town jetty area, a range of historical buildings located on Charles Street, Pioneer Park, the Pelican Coastal reserves, interesting craft shops and tea rooms. Consider a treasure hunt or similar while taking in the sights.
